BG Group plc, an integrated natural gas company, engages in the exploration, development, production, transmission, distribution, and supply of natural gas worldwide.

The company operates in four segments: Exploration and Production ((E&P), Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG), Transmission and Distribution (T&D), and Power Generation (Power).

The E&P segment engages in the exploration, development, production, and marketing of gas and oil.

As of December 31, 2007, it had a reserves and resources base of approximately 10 billion barrels of oil equivalent.

The LNG segment produces and markets LNG; purchases, ships, and sells LNG and regasified natural gas; and develops LNG import and regasification facilities.

The T&D segment develops, owns, and operates pipelines and distribution networks, and supplies gas through these networks.

The Power segment owns and operates gas-fired power generation plants.

This segment also operates cogeneration and related energy supply services, and compressed natural gas stations that supply to natural gas vehicles in Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

As of December 31, 2007, it had a 4.3 gigawatt portfolio of gas-fired power generation facilities.

The company was founded in 1972 and is headquartered in Reading, the United Kingdom.
