Mark Davidson is Editorial Director for Platts' North American natural gas news coverage. Based in Washington, D.C., Mark also has served as Chief Editor of Gas Daily and Managing Editor of Inside FERC's Gas Market Report. A graduate of the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism at Ohio University, Mark wasa general assignment and local governmentreporter for daily newspapers in Ohio and Virginia for nearly a decade before joining Platts in November 1995.
Dave Ernsberger is Platts' editorial director for Asia and a regular speaker on oil and energy issues on Asian TV stations and at industry conferences. He began his Platts career as a metals reporter in London before becoming managing editor of Platts' London metals group. In 1999, he took on responsibility for Platts' new European power start- up ventures as editor-in-chief and in 2001 relocated to Houston as bureau chief. He has a bachelors' degree in philosophy and politics from Warwick University, England, and a masters' in international relations from Southampton University, England.
Neil Fleming is head of strategy for Platts, a role he combines with a career as a playwright. He is the former vice president of the company's information division, former editorial vice president of Platts, and former editor-in-chief of Platts' real-time oil news service. He has worked as United Press International's East Africa correspondent, South Africa bureau chief, and Platts Middle East correspondent. He holds a first class honors degree in modern languages from Cambridge University.
David Hanna is the global editorial director of the Platts Petrochemicals Division and is based in Tokyo, Japan. He joined Platts in 1993 as a reporter covering the Asian oil and petrochemicals markets. Before joining Platts, he earned a master's degree in international relations from Yale University and a bachelor's degree in Asian studies from Cornell University. Hanna also spent a year in China as an exchange student at the Beijing Foreign Studies Institute from 1985 to 1986.
David R. Jones is Platts renewable energy and carbon markets editor. An environmental journalist with 20 years experience, Jones edited newsletters on U.S. state and local government, medical waste management, oil pollution, and solid waste before joining Platts in 2001. He recently moved to the Platts London office, where he serves as editor of Renewable Energy Report.
John Kingston is director of oil at Platts. In that position, he manages a global staff of almost 80 editors covering all aspects of the world's oil industry. He has been a member of the Platts staff for almost 20 years, servingamong other dutiesas managing editor of Platts Oilgram Price Report and editor-in-chief of Platts Oilgram News. Prior to joining Platts, he spent almost five years covering metal markets at American Metal Market. He also has worked at newspapers in New Jersey and Virginia. He is a graduate of Washington & Lee University.
Kathy Carolin Larsen is editorial director of the Platts North American electricity news group. After working in daily and weekly newspapers in the Northeast and weeklies in the Great Plains, she covered oil and gas news in Washington before joining the McGraw-Hill electricity news staff there. The group now encompasses reporters and editors in six cities around the globe, plus a dozen veteran correspondents and publications covering the utility, independent power, and power marketing businesses.
Melissa Leonard is in her fourth year as associate editor of Platts POWER magazine. She began her career at The McGraw-Hill Companies with an internship through the American Business Media. Melissa was a finalist in 2003 for the prestigious Neal Award competition for her work on the First Annual Top Plants issue of POWER magazine. She holds a BA in communications and social sciences from Flagler College.
Colette Lewiner joined Capgemini in 1998 after having occupied several executive positions in the energy industry. She is executive vice president and global leader of Capgemini's Energy, Utilities and Chemicals sector. In addition to this role, she was appointed, at the beginning of 2004, global marketing leader for Capgemini Group.
Theo Mullen is the managing editor of Megawatt Daily, the Washington, D.C.based Platts publication covering competitive power markets. Mullen has held a number of editorial positions within Platts and has covered the electric power industry for more than 20 years.
Margaret L. Ryan, editorial director of Platts Global Nuclear & Coal groups, is a 23-year veteran of McGraw-Hill energy publications. A professional journalist, she has reported on energy issues worldwide. She is the recipient of two McGraw-Hill Corporate Achievement Awards, most recently as Platts' representative in developing the corporation's Homeland Security Summits. In 20032005 she is president of the American News Women's Club, the oldest club embracing women journalists in Washington, D.C.
Richard Swann is the managing editor of Platts oil and gas news in Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. He joined Platts in 1996 to launch the company's European Natural Gas Report from London and now manages a staff reporting and editing news from across the region. He is a graduate in modern languages from the University of Bristol.
